Different Types of Digital Brands, Importance of Humor, Entertainment, and Social Employees.

In today's blog post, I am covering the two different types of digital brands and the importance of humor, entertainment, and social employees.

T-Rexes and Octopuses

Yes, there are t-rexes and octopuses in marketing! Let's get to know what they are and how they differ from each other:

T-Rexes

These are the brands that existed before the digital marketing strategies started and they stayed with their traditional marketing strategies without adapting to the change over the years. These are the brands that have Facebook and Instagram pages but are not active on them, do not put effort in growing them, and therefore does not care about their digital presence. These brands are not flexible and are not great to adapting to change, solving problems, and decision making.

Octopuses

These brands have adapted through the change and are great at decision making, problem solving, and flowing with the changes that are thrown at them from external factors like algorithms, new platforms, and so on. They are flexible and flowy and want to keep improving their business by taking advantage of the new updates and changes that happen in the digital world. These are the brands that will be here long-term because they are patient and determined to solve every problem that gets thrown at them without hesitation.

Importance of Social Engagement and Humor

Humor is one of the most powerful ways to entertain your audience and entertainment is one of the most efficient ways that brands can build a long-term relationship with their customers. Think about all of the memes that brands share on their feeds and stories to get their audience to engage with the comment. They don't do it just because its fun. They do it because humor and entertainment drives long-term results that lead to loyal customers.

Social Employees Like Influencers and Brand Ambassadors

Social Employees also drive as great results as humor and entertainment does. Social employees work to brand the company from inside out. They are the core to the brand and drives results to the company. For example, a social employee can be a brand ambassador or an influencer.

How social employees benefit the company:

  • Authentic branding

  • High-value employees

  • Sees increase in sales and loyal customers

How the social employees benefit:

  • Gets to build a personal brand

  • Gets to earn incentives, rewards, and recognition from the brand

  • Gets paid

In all marketing practices, there should always be a balance in variety of efforts but at the end of the day, your brand should be an octopus and never a t-rex 😃. As long as your brand is making effort to adapt to and flow with the change of the digital world, you will be making effort into a successful future.
